About the New Pod Racer...

"포드레이서는 스타워즈 에피소드 1의 인상적인 장면을 장식한 걸작 디자인이죠.

어린 시절, 아버지께서 포드레이싱 장면을 보여주시며 제트엔진의 강력함에 대해 얘기해 주신 적이 있습니다.

저는 제트엔진의 속도와 강력함에 매료되어 포드레이서를 동경하게 되었고, 그것이 콘셉트 디자인에 대한 열망이 되기에 이르렀습니다.

무법자 같은 거친 레이스, 2개의 제트엔진이 흐느적거리며 조종석을 끌고 가는, 로망, 상상력을 자극하는 디자인, 그 속에 담긴 최고의 디테일들이 포드레이서의 매력이라 할 수 있겠습니다.

May 4th를 맞이하여, 원작에 대한 존경을 담아 그들이 풀고자 한 과제를 저도 풀어보았습니다.

새 포드 디자인입니다. 원작에서 쓰이지 않은 각종 항공기술들을 포함시켜보았습니다.

아나킨이 떠난 후에도 포드는 계속 이렇게 발전하지 않았을까요?

영화에서 크게 재조명되진 않았지만 레이서들은 여전히 거친 벌판을 달리고 있을 겁니다."

"Podracers are the most well-known concept design masterpieces from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, which complete the breathtaking racing sequence.

When I was a little kid, my father showed me the Podracing and told me how powerful jet engines are.

I got so fascinated to jet engines and Podracers. It made me drawn to concept design.

The most attractive points of Podracer designs must be the brutal and harsh race with unique structure and finest details, which stimulating our imagination.

To celebrate May 4th, with huge respects toward original designers and their ideas,

I assigned myself to design for the same request, which is ‘with 2 jet engines and 1 cockpit, and loose connection between them’ (Jonathan Bresman, The Art of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace, 1999).

Here's my new Podracer design, with some new technologies from the aeronautical engineering.

Wouldn’t Podracers have been evolved like this, even after Anakin left Tatooine? 

There was no other Podracing in the Star Wars series, but I believe the racers would still fighting in such a severe match."
